Bakhmut is impregnable fortress for invading Russian forces
Although the Russian forces greatly outnumber the Ukrainian defenders, they cannot seize Bakhmut in the Donetsk region
This is reported on Spotlight Ukraine | Espreso TV Channel.
Russian propaganda channels constantly report on the successes of their troops in this direction, however, the Ukrainian military denies this information. Bakhmut is an important transport hub. The capture of the city would allow Russia to launch an offensive on Kramatorsk and Svoliansk, but now the city is like an impregnable fortress for them. Very fierce battles are being fought for Bakhmut.
According to the scale of destruction, Bakhmut is already being compared with Mariupol. About 15,000 civilians, including 300 children, still remain in the city and suburbs, the police say. Despite the fierce fighting, free evacuation continues for all who want to leave.
There is no water supply, electricity or gas in Bakhmut. Residents hardly leave their basements due to constant shelling. Food is cooked on a bonfire near the houses, but it's always an immortal danger. Locals survived thanks to humanitarian aid, but despite the unbearable conditions, many of them don't want to leave their hometown.
