US has mechanisms to supply Ukraine with weapons without congressional approval - political analyst Shlinchak
Victor Shlinchak, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of World Policy, believes that Joe Biden's administration has several mechanisms for supplying Ukraine with weapons if the Congress does not make a decision to help Kyiv soon
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel
"I have repeatedly said that the United States has weapons that have to be disposed of. All it takes is political will. All these thousands of missiles and ammunition can be conditionally valued at $100 and transferred to Ukraine. There is a Pentagon budget for this. That is, if there is political will and desire, we can help Ukraine right now, without waiting for the Congress to decide on funding for Kyiv," explained Shlinchak.
The political analyst emphasized that the Biden administration can send aid to Ukraine without waiting for a congressional decision.
"That is, in fact, there are some mechanisms in the United States that have not yet been activated. I hope that the Biden administration will use them and provide Ukraine with assistance that is critically important today and affects the front line. However, I would like to emphasize once again that this requires political will. The West is still very cautious about helping Ukraine, as they believe it will not lead to an escalation of the war," he added.
