Ukraine, US sign bilateral security agreement for 10 years
On June 13, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Joe Biden signed a bilateral security agreement for 10 years

Ukraine and the United States signed the agreement during the G7 summit in Italy.
"The parties recognize this agreement as supporting a bridge to Ukraine’s eventual membership in the NATO alliance," the text says.
According to the security agreement, the United States reaffirms Ukraine's defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is emphasized that the signatories recognize Ukraine's need for military strength, as well as robust capabilities and sustained investment in its defense industrial base that meet North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) standards.
At the same time, it is emphasized that Washington intends to provide Kyiv with long-term material, defense, industrial, and institutional support that can protect Ukraine from aggression. The United States will also provide training, counseling, and intelligence.
According to the signed document, in the event of a new attack or threat of an armed attack on Ukraine, its top officials, along with their American counterparts, will meet within 24 hours to consult on a response and determine Kyiv's defense needs.
