European banks allocate €52 million to boost Ukraine's emergency services
The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) are providing grant funding to Ukraine for developing its emergency assistance system
The Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine reported the information on October 31.
Specifically, Ukraine will receive €12 million to create a unified emergency dispatch system with a toll-free number, 112, similar to what EU countries use. The total project support will include this grant along with an additional €40 million loan.
The ministry explained that the project aims to merge ambulance, police, fire, and emergency gas services into one emergency response system. This includes plans to set up modern call centers and IT infrastructure to align these services with European standards.
Additionally, the ministry noted that since the start of the full-scale war, the EBRD has invested around €5 billion in Ukraine, primarily to support the energy sector.
- Ukraine received close to $300 million in concessional financing from Canada, and the funds have already been added to the state budget.
