AFU seize enemy equipment during counteroffensive: how Russian weapons work against Russian forces
The so-called “Russian Lend Lease” helps Ukraine's Armed Forces in their fight against the invading Russian troops
This is reported on Spotlight Ukraine | Espreso TV Channel.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces receive a lot of equipment and ammunition to fight the occupying Russian forces from the Russians themselves. Of course, the air defense systems or the HIMARS systems are not on the list. But, for example, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Ukrainian military has seized about 400 tanks from the Russians, and this is almost as many as the Western partners handed over to Ukraine.
The exact number of Russian weapons captured by the Ukrainian Defense Forces during the nine months of the full-scale war is currently unknown. But only during the counteroffensive in the Kharkiv region, the Ukrainian army received Russian equipment and ammunition worth more than USD 400 million as trophies, according to analysts.
Captured Russian equipment is mostly obsolete, both morally and technically, but it still helps the Ukrainian army to be more successful at the front.
Ukraine’s defenders joke that all the equipment left behind by Russia is a "Lend-Lease" program by the Kremlin, referencing a US deal to supply weapons to Ukraine.
