After the damage to Crimean bridge, Melitopol becomes key supply hub for Russia in the South of Ukraine - British intelligence
Due to the damage to Crimean bridge, Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region became the main supply hub of Russian military in the South of Ukraine.
The British Ministry of Defense reports on Twitter.
British intelligence suggests that logistical problems facing Russian forces in southern Ukraine have worsened since the damage to Crimean bridge on October 8. Repair work is ongoing and it is open to traffic. However, there is a long line of trucks waiting at the crossing.
Russian forces operating in southern Ukraine are likely increasing the flow of logistics through Mariupol in an attempt to compensate for reduced capacity of Crimean bridge.
"With the Russian presence in Kherson strained, and the supply routes through Crimea degraded, the ground line of communication through Zaporizhzhia oblast is becoming more important to the sustainability of Russia’s occupation. The city of Melitopol is a junction of supply routes and hosts a major Russian aviation presence," British intelligence concluded.
