About people and territories

People often imagine the reintegration of territories and people in a rather specific way

Either all the "bad" people will go to Russia.

Or "we will deprive them of the right to vote and return it after an exam.”

Or how Russian propaganda will go away and everything will become normal.

Of course, none of the above will happen.

Everything will take much longer and be more painful. Most of those who left the occupied territories (even the newly occupied ones) will not return there.

It is there that the demographic crisis will be felt the most.

There will be problems even with the formation of the police there. And it will be needed. It is critically needed. Because the first thing that will happen in the ravaged and destroyed territories is attempts to assimilate the wealth there. Mines. Quarries. Just available resources. To start making money quickly.

“If someone thinks that the problem will disappear with the disappearance of the L/DPR, they can recall the unoccupied territories of 15 to 16 years ago or the story of amber and forest. These were far away from Donbas and cannot be blamed on the "different" Donbas. Or the "wrong" government”

If someone thinks that the problem will disappear with the disappearance of the L/DPR, they can recall the unoccupied territories of 15 to 16 years ago or the story of amber and forest. These were far away from Donbas and cannot be blamed on the "different" Donbas. Or the "wrong" government.

So, the police. The police will have to be recruited from the military and strictly controlled. And paid well. So that it does not become part of the new problem itself.

“And who will be recruited from other regions? Unmarried young men. And they will live and work in a region where there will be quite a few unmarried women. Whose husbands, sons, or boyfriends died in the war, not always voluntarily”

And who will be recruited from other regions? Unmarried young men. And they will live and work in a region where there will be quite a few unmarried women. Whose husbands, sons, or boyfriends died in the war, not always voluntarily. And police officers and military personnel in these territories will be the only available (for a certain time, for sure) model of success. In the bloodied and destroyed territories.

Yes, yes. They all have their own traumas. Both sides. But here's the thing. These people will have families. Very specific ones with very specific risks. Right now, we need to form a corps of psychologists, therapists, and psychiatrists there. Who will "treat" these people with specific experience and access to weapons during this difficult mission.

This is just a very superficial discussion of one small aspect. I'm not talking about the super complicated story of orphans (including civilian parents) or children born of forced or voluntary relations with the Russians. This is an extremely complicated story. In which we will have to show all the humanism and adequacy we have.

Maybe in 20 years it will more or less level out. But we are going to face a very difficult period with very difficult decisions.
