Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant must stop working amid growing risks of serious incident - nuclear energy expert
Olha Kosharna, a nuclear energy expert, believes that positioning Russian military equipment in the power plant's bunkers is creating a very dangerous situation
She expressed her opinion on Espreso.
"According to statistics, even in quiet times, 70% of the reasons for plant operation deviations are the human factor. Therefore, the risk of personnel errors increases every day, and this percentage increases due to fatigue, psychological pressure and fear," explained the nuclear energy expert.
Olga Kosharna recalled that a ZNPP diver died after torture, an electrician was shot dead in his own apartment, 100 employees of the station were sent "to the basements" and Russian occupiers are already stealing middle-level managers of the Zaporizhzhia station.
"I believe that the station should be stopped. On August 4, a meeting of the board of the State Atomic Energy Regulatory Commission of the closed part was held, and as far as I know, it was decided that the conditions for power unit No. 1 to be transferred to a safe state of cold shutdown were specified in the operating license, in connection with the fact that the occupier has brought military equipment to the engine room of the station. Although, in addition to the first unit, the invaders have already brought their equipment to the second room, and there are still four free out of six. Accordingly, it is necessary to stop all the units in a cold stop, because now the situation is very dangerous," Kosharna emphasized.
