Pro-Russian parties gain key positions in Montenegro's new government
Montenegro's parliament has approved a new government, which includes representatives of Serbian radical and pro-Russian parties
This is reported by the Balkan Observer.
The government includes representatives from the Serbian radical and pro-Russian parties New Serb Democracy and the Democratic People's Party, as well as the pro-Western Bosnian Party.
The Serbian People's Party (SNP), representatives of Albanian parties, the centrist Democrats and the Europe Now Movement (PES), led by Prime Minister Milojko Spajic, remained in the ruling coalition.
Pro-Russian parties received two vice-presidential and three ministerial positions, while Bosnians were allocated one vice-presidential and five ministerial positions.
More than 50 MPs supported the Prime Minister's proposals to reconstitute the government, with almost all opposition MPs abstaining from the vote. Prime Minister Spajic stated that the government reconstruction will improve citizen welfare, uphold the rule of law, and accelerate Montenegro's path to the EU.
At the same time, MP from the Democratic Party of Socialists Andrija Nikolic pointed out that there are no Montenegrin representatives in the government and emphasized that the reconstituted government is run from Belgrade and Moscow, and that the “boss and head” is Andrija Mandic, a leading pro-Russian politician in Montenegro.
