Pro-Russian hackers attack German air traffic control
The German Air Traffic Control Service (DFS) has been cyberattacked by the pro-Russian hacker group APT28
Spiegel reported the information.
"Our office communications were hacked and we are now taking protective measures," said the spokesman for the air traffic control service, which is based in Langen near Frankfurt am Main.
Efforts are underway to minimize the consequences of the incident.
DFS noted that the hacker attack didn't affect air traffic, and it continues to operate as usual.
According to German air traffic control, the attack took place last week. It is not yet known whether the data was accessed. As the DFS spokesperson explained, the security authorities have been informed.
According to the outlet, the attack is linked to the pro-Russian hacker group APT28, also known as Fancy Bear. For several years, APT28 has been targeting commercial enterprises such as defense, energy and logistics companies.
