Ukrainian MP explains why Trump may refuse to help Ukraine
MP Oleh Syniutka believes that Donald Trump could refuse to help Ukraine only if the country becomes corrupt and authoritarian
He shared his opinions on Espreso TV.
“As for the next U.S. president, I think our politicians should stop debating whether Joe Biden or Donald Trump is better for Ukraine. Right now, support from the U.S. government is crucial for Ukraine. The American people elect the president they believe is right,” Syniutka explained.
He emphasized the need for Ukraine to build bipartisan support in the United States.
“President Donald Trump was the first to provide Ukraine with lethal aid. President Joe Biden warned us about Russia’s aggression and continues to support us with financial aid, weapons, and sanctions against Russia. I’m fully confident that President Trump would help Ukraine, but he would only refuse if Ukraine turns into a corrupt, authoritarian state. These are values that are completely opposed to those held by the U.S. and Europe. So, it’s not about Trump or the U.S. — it’s about Ukraine. We must remain a democratic state and fight corruption. We need to unite and work on the diplomatic front to secure bipartisan support from the United States,” he added.
