Freezing front, waiving NATO entry for 20 years: 'peace plans' offered to Trump revealed
Advisers to the winner of the U.S. presidential election, Donald Trump, are offering him several options for ending the war in Ukraine. In particular, Ukraine's refusal to join NATO for 20 years
The Wall Street Journal reported the information, citing Trump's advisers.
According to the WSJ, some of Trump's advisers, including former Secretary of State and potential Secretary of Defense Mike Pompeo, will insist on a plan that does not give Russia a “big win.”
At the same time, others, such as the candidate for the post of Secretary of State or National Security Advisor Richard Grenell, are likely to seek a quick end to the war, even at the expense of concessions to Russia.
According to the outlet, all the "peace plans" of Trump's advisers and allies propose to freeze the war and force Ukraine to temporarily abandon its accession to NATO.
In particular, one of the ideas suggests that Kyiv will promise not to join NATO for at least 20 years, and in exchange, the United States will continue to send Ukraine weapons. The plan also envisages the creation of a demilitarized zone of more than 1,200 kilometers.
It is not yet known who will control these territories, but it is definitely not U.S. troops or international organizations funded by the United States, including the UN.
"We are not sending American men and women to keep the peace in Ukraine. And we will not pay for it. Let the Poles, the Germans, the British, and the French do it," said a member of Trump's team.
The outlet also noted that it is not yet known which of these strategies Donald Trump will follow and whether he will do so at all.
