Hockey legend Hašek calls on NHL owners to ban Russian players
Legendary Czech goalkeeper Dominik Hašek called on the owners of the National Hockey League clubs to ban Russians from playing in the United States and Canada
Hašek said this at the Volia Space Ukrainian House in Paris, Espreso TV reports.
According to him, club owners should take a stand and ban Russian hockey players from playing in the world's strongest league. He emphasized that the decision involves not only NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman but also the club owners themselves.
"You have to take a stand and not allow Russian players to play in the NHL. So it's not just about Gary Bettman, it's about the 31 owners of the NHL. These people have to make decisions. These people can influence the war. These people can save a lot of lives," Hašek said.
He expressed his belief that many lives could be saved in Ukraine in this way.
"NHL club owners, if you are listening to me, listen carefully. Listen carefully to my words. You will save lives if you don't allow Russian players to get out on the ice anymore," Hašek emphasized.
A 59-year-old Dominik Hašek is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the history of world hockey. In the NHL, the Czech played for Chicago, Buffalo, Ottawa and Detroit, with whom he twice won the Stanley Cup. As a member of the Czech national team, he won the 1998 Nagano Olympic gold medal.
