West's mistake is to make terms of civilizational conflict dependent on election campaigns – Ukraine’s diplomat

Valeriy Chaly, diplomat, head of Ukraine Crisis Media Center, believes that the strategy of controlled warfare, which Ukraine's Western partners want to implement, needs to be changed according to the situation

He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.

"I have repeatedly said that Russia's clashes with NATO are an irreversible process, and these clashes have already occurred. However, we have a political decision from the United States and the Allies to ignore such incidents, which were quite serious. Over the Black Sea, a Russian fighter jet attacked a British fighter jet to destroy it, but the Russians' missile failed. Missiles also fell on the territory of NATO countries. That is, the Alliance countries will do everything possible to cover up these facts in the media," the diplomat said.

Valeriy Chaly suggested that Putin would like a short clash with NATO that would not end for him in a real confrontation. And Putin can do this, because Russia has done it elsewhere, including with the help of Wagner's forces in Syria.

"I'm skeptical that this will lead to a deployment of NATO forces. Unfortunately, Putin also sees what the Alliance is doing now and what strategy is being implemented. The strategy of controlled warfare that our partners want to implement may have had more advantages earlier, such as not allowing escalation and not using nuclear weapons. But now, if they do not change this strategy, it will be a huge mistake. Not only I, but also many military intelligence officers see this political mistake. Let's call a spade a spade, that is, to make the conditions of such a civilizational conflict, which can threaten all the rules in the world, dependent on some election campaigns, is a disaster. It seems to me that a colossal mistake is being made here, which can lead to bad results," said the head of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center.

Chaly believes that the Western partners are seriously overestimating their ability to control all processes, having trusted the Russians so far.

"Now it seems that the West has stuck to its strategy, which it does not want to change according to the situation. They are just waiting to see what will happen in the coming months at the front. Everyone now has a false impression that the hot phase of the war can end this year and that a solution can be found that Ukraine will also have to implement. I have seen such situations in the past in Ukraine, and these cunningly twisted concepts, where there is no subject of the Ukrainian people, fall apart, no matter who is planning them," the diplomat concluded.
