We must be sure that Ukraine wins: Prime Minister of Finland calls for increased aid to Ukraine
Finland's Prime Minister Sanna Marin said on Wednesday, November 30, that her country should provide more support to Ukraine to ensure victory in the war with Russia
She announced this in Auckland during the first ever visit of the Prime Minister of Finland to New Zealand and Australia, AP quotes.
"We need hard power when it comes to Ukraine," said Sanna Marin, answering reporters' questions about the influence that New Zealand and Finland could have on Ukraine.
She noted that now Ukraine needs humanitarian, armed, and financial support. The leader of Finland also emphasized that now European countries should make sure that all Ukrainian refugees will be accepted in Europe.
In addition, Sanna Marin said that the war has a very specific meaning for Finland. In particular, across the border with Russia, which is 1,300 km long. She noted that Finland has already transferred 10 batches of weapons to Ukraine.
"We have to make sure that they will win," the Prime Minister of Finland emphasized.
She also added that Western countries need to introduce tougher sanctions against Russia. Sanna Marin noted that this is important because the war has already affected not only the civilians who die in Ukraine, but also people around the world who are faced with rising energy prices.
