Washington, Kremlin comment on Pope's "peacekeeping mission" in Ukraine
White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre says Washington has nothing to say about the Vatican's participation in a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine

The statement was published on the White House website.
"We are aware. I just don’t have any comments on that," Jean-Pierre said, commenting on the Pope's statement about his alleged participation in a "secret peacekeeping mission" in Ukraine.
At the same time, Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Russian media that the Kremlin "knows nothing about the Pope's mission."

Earlier, Ukraine’s presidential office said that the Vatican can discuss Russian armed aggression and look for ways to end it, but all initiatives must be coordinated with Ukraine.

On April 12, Pope Francis called on world leaders to use reason, not weapons, to resolve differences, recalling the Cold War of the 1960s between Washington and Moscow.
