This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR).
"HUR claimed the Russian PMC Wagner began recruiting prisoners from correctional institutions of Russia’s Chechen Republic, most of whom were convicted for political reasons," the press service writes.
It is reported that in colony-settlement No. 3 of the city of Argun and in prison No. 2 of the village of Chernokozovo, prisoners are recruited to Wagner's PMC.
Ukrainian intelligence found that more than 50 prisoners were "mobilized" from both colonies. Most of them were convicted on trumped-up cases.
"The phenomenon is becoming widespread. Work is currently underway with the colony staff to prevent information leakage," HUR added.
