Russian forces execute unarmed, wounded Ukrainian soldier
On Saturday, November 9, a new war crime committed by Russia was reported: the Russians shot an unarmed Ukrainian soldier who was wounded
Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets reported this.
"Russian forces have no limits to their cynicism and cruelty! The Russians shot an unarmed Ukrainian soldier, who appeared to be wounded. They recorded the act on video, which is now circulating online," Lubinets wrote.
He also mentioned that he had sent a letter about the incident to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
"This is a clear violation of the Geneva Conventions, international humanitarian law, and the laws of war. If we don’t take action, these crimes will continue. Unpunished evil always comes back," Lubinets emphasized.
A pre-trial investigation into the war crime has been launched under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
"Investigative actions are ongoing to determine all the details of the incident, including the time and location of the crime," the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine said in a statement.
