Japan imposes new sanctions against Russia
The government of Japan has frozen the assets of 73 legal entities and 39 individuals.
The restrictions were imposed, in particular, on the head of the Kalashnikov concern, Alan Lushnikov, and on the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia, Viktor Goremykin. The sanctions list also includes employees of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces and the General Staff's computer center.
The sanctions also apply to the head of the presidential department for ensuring the activities of the State Council, Alexander Kharychev, and his deputy, Boris Rapoport. The list also includes Turpal-Ali Ibragimov, who is considered a relative of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.
In addition, restrictions were imposed on the Ak Bars holding company, the Soyuz Federal Center for Dual Technologies, and the Roselectronics holding. Sanctions were also imposed on a number of institutes and research centers associated with Russia's military-industrial complex. This includes the Lebedev Physical Institute.
Ben Hodges publishes map with plan to neutralize Russian troops in Crimea
Hodges reposted the map on Twitter.
"Excellent map depicting how long-range precision strikes can make Crimea untenable for Russian forces. Crimea skeptics assume this requires a costly large-scale land force attack...but the priority is to make Crimea untenable for Russia first. SOF and others will contribute," Hodges wrote.
Canada imposes new sanctions on Iranian officials
The new sanctions targeted 12 high-ranking officials from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Law Enforcement Forces. All of them "participated in gross and systematic human rights violations in Iran, including during the lethal crackdown on demonstrations in Kurdish areas of western Iran." Their assets in Canada will be frozen and they will not be allowed to enter the country.
"Canada will continue to coordinate with international partners to respond to the Iranian regime's outrageous treatment of its own people, its use of propaganda, and actions that threaten international peace and stability," the Canadian foreign ministry said.
Sweden to provide USD 30 million to Ukraine
Sweden will contribute USD 30 million to the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy following a meeting between Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko and Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch.
In addition Sweden will allocate funds to support the IAEA mission, which is currently working at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
Border guards neutralize 11 and wound 14 Russian soldiers in two battles
