Victorious news of 315 days of war: partisan activity in Russia, Kyiv is best city worldwide, Ukrainian military network, which US envies
On January 4, partisans stopped military echelons near Krasnoyarsk, Kyiv was recognized as the best city in the world, and the WSJ admired the military network built in Ukraine
In Russia, partisans stopped military echelons
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, on the night of January 4, partisans once again stopped the movement of civilian trains and military echelons on the section of the Trans-Siberian Railway in the Krasnoyarsk region, Russia. In just four days of 2023, this is already at least the sixth case of destruction of signaling and centralization, and blocking railways in various regions of the Russian Federation, which leads to disruptions in the movement of military echelons.
Kyiv is the best city in the world
The International Resonance agency, which is a leading consultant in the field of tourism, real estate and economic development, named Kyiv the best city in the world in 2023.
“Large shopping centers offer many opportunities for entertainment, and no geopolitical crisis, controversial elections or the threat of Russian invasion have stood in the way of new investments: there are construction cranes everywhere,” emphasized Resonance, and called the Ukrainian capital a “beacon of courage and resilience.”
The World Bank will finance the rescue of Ukrainian grain
In 2023, the World Bank will provide USD 50 million to provide generators and boilers to Ukrainian elevators. According to the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Solskyi, the funds will be spent on a program under which all elevators will be able to buy new generators for up to UAH 5 million, or switch to LPG, that is, liquefied gas boilers.
Due to the fact that the elevators do not have time to dry the grain because of power outages, this year, for the first time, Ukrainian farmers were unable to harvest the entire corn crop before the new year - there was nowhere to take it.
Aviation launched 17 strikes on the Russian forces during the day
The General Staff confirmed the liquidation of the occupying Russian forces' base in Tokmak on January 3. The losses of the enemy amounted to about 80 soldiers wounded and killed.
During the day, Ukrainian aviation launched 17 strikes on the Russian military positions, as well as 4 strikes on the positions of the enemy's anti-aircraft missile systems.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces' units inflicted fire damage on the Russian command post, 2 military positions, and the enemy's munitions depots.
Ukraine has created a military network that is the envy of the Pentagon
During the full-scale war, Ukraine was able to create a communication network of drones, fighters and weapons, connected through satellites and special programs. The Pentagon has worked on similar programs for decades and spent billions of dollars, according to The Wall Street Journal.
One of the elements of Ukraine's success in innovation is how different military units and Ukrainian technology companies are working on their own new military technologies. This is a "bottom-up" approach that sometimes resembles the birth of Silicon Valley more than Pentagon-funded projects. In contrast, bureaucratic Western militaries are “too slow and cumbersome.”
The US is trying to introduce new technologies through a network of non-governmental innovation centers linked to the Pentagon. Now those centers — and in particular Sofwerx, which is affiliated with the US Special Operations Command — will study Ukraine's example, WSJ sources say.
