USD 3 billion from US: Ukraine receives tranche of previously promised aid
On August 24, Ukraine's state budget received USD 3 billion of the 4.5 billion non-refundable grant aid from the US, which was promised earlier
The Ukrainian Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, wrote about this on Telegram.
The head of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers first recalled today's decision of the US president to provide a new package of long-term military aid to Ukraine: "A valuable gift to Ukraine for Independence Day! US President Joe Biden announced the allocation of almost USD 3 billion in military aid to our country. The package included air defense systems, unmanned aerial systems, artillery systems, and radars. A significant contribution to our victory!".
And then he announced that today, August 24, the budget received a large tranche from another package: "Today, another USD 3 billion in non-returnable grant aid from the US was received through the mechanism of the World Bank to Ukraine's state budget".
The head of the Ukrainian government emphasized that this is the first tranche of an additional USD 4.5 billion in direct budget support.
