US to announce new USD 400 million aid package, including mostly ammunition
On Friday, March 3, the US will announce another USD 400 million package of military aid to Ukraine, consisting mainly of ammunition
According to the Reuters news agency, the cost of the new US aid package will amount to USD 400 million. Preliminarily, it will include high-precision GMLRS missiles for HIMARS launchers, ammunition for Bradley fighting vehicles, other types of ammunition, tank bridges, etc.
Reuters noted that the equipment will be funded through the Presidential Drawdown Authority, or PDA, which allows President Joe Biden to authorize the transfer of equipment and provision of the US without congressional approval if it is needed in response to an emergency.
The provision of military assistance was previously announced by White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, the Washington Post reported.
Although Kirby did not go into details, he said that the package "will include mostly ammunitions… that the Ukrainians will need for the systems that they already have."
