US politicians united by Xi's attempt to build anti-Western empire of China-Russia-Iran – Piontkovsky
Washington-based political scientist Andrey Piontkovsky believes that the American political elite has taken a new unified position, seeing the US confronting the Chinese bloc and its petty vassal – Russia
He shared his opinion on Espreso TV.
"We have all noticed over the past week a sharp tightening of the position of the entire American political community on Russian aggression in Ukraine. Every day, US Secretary of State Blinken repeats even more sharply than the Ukrainian leadership that no negotiations are possible, because any cessation of hostilities benefits the aggressor, allows Putin to save face, regroup forces, prepare for a new war, and so on. But no less striking are the extremely serious changes in the Republican sector of American politics. Trump is turning into a completely marginalized idiot, repeating every day at rallies that he will agree with Putin to end the war in 24 hours, giving him a number of Ukrainian regions," the political scientist noted.
Andrey Piontkovsky added that Florida Governor DeSantis has changed his position and now shows his new attitude towards Putin and the war, saying that Putin is a war criminal, sitting at a gas station waving a nuclear bomb, so it is necessary to provide full support to Ukraine.
"This change in the position of the entire US political elite is due to two reasons. The first is the Chinese leader's visit to Moscow, which was perceived as Xi's attempt to create a new evil empire. First, he reached an agreement with Iran, doing it a great favour by normalising relations with Saudi Arabia. In other words, he was clearly trying to build an anti-Western empire of China-Russia-Iran. And this paradoxically united both wings of American politics. The idea that China is the main enemy was very popular, especially among Republicans. But now this anti-Chinese party has seen that Putin is actually a vassal of China and fully puts its economic resources at China's disposal, that the United States is confronted by a united bloc of China and a small Chinese vassal. This has united the entire American political community, which has taken a completely new unified position," Piontkovsky said.
