US announces new aid package for restoration of Ukraine's energy system
Washington pledged a new package of energy aid to Ukraine, which will be delivered in the coming weeks
This was stated by the coordinator of strategic communications of the US National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House, John Kirby.
"The US plans to provide a new aid package to Ukraine in the coming weeks, which will probably include additional air defense equipment and even more energy equipment," he said.
According to Kirby, on December 16, Ukraine received the first tranche of emergency repair equipment for the power system. In total, the US will allocate 53 million dollars to restore the energy sector.
"This is just the first tranche, with more coming in the coming weeks, to fulfill a pledge of more than $50 million in aid. The United States is committed to helping Ukraine restore light, restore heat, and help ease the suffering of Ukrainians during the winter months," Kirby added.
- On December 16, the United States Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink announced the arrival of the first American shipment of emergency repair equipment. She also announced the arrival of the first batch of equipment for Ukrainian infrastructure.
