Ukraine has pushed Russians 40 km from Kharkiv - Pentagon
Russian forces in Donbas (east Ukraine), where most of the fighting takes place, suffer from poor command and control, low morale and less than perfect logistics.
BBC Russia shared this information, citing a statement by the US Department of Defense official.
"We continue to see minimal at best progress by the Russians in the Donbas," the official said.
Russian authorities have made little progress east of the Ukrainian towns of Izyum and Popasna, he said, but progress has been "sluggish and uneven."
The Pentagon noted that Russian forces are likely risk-averse and they are trying to avoid casualties among their troops in both air and ground warfare.
Ukrainian forces don't let Russian forces enter Kharkiv. The city continues to bear Russian air strikes.
"Over the past 24-48 hours, the Ukrainians have done a good job pushing the Russians even further, about 40 kilometers east of Kharkiv," the military official said.
Russia has fired 2,125 missiles on Ukraine since the start of the invasion.
According to a US Defense Department spokesman, Ukrainian forces are showing "a good example of tough and formidable resistance."
Jack Detch, a Pentagon reporter for foreign policy and national security, also reported the success of the Ukrainian troops in the Kharkiv region on his Twitter.
