Ukrainian official says additional draft may take place in Ukraine
Although the military command has made an appeal to the President of Ukraine to expand the scope of mobilization, there are no plans to modify the current mobilization process. However, an additional draft is being considered
Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, made the statement on Radio Ukraine.
He acknowledged the potential for an additional draft, but it would be carried out in accordance with the regulations that were approved on February 24, 2022.
"Anticipating any alterations to the mobilization process would be unwarranted. Our mobilization was initiated on February 24, 2022. On the first day of the military aggression, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces made all the relevant decisions, the National Security and Defense Council met, and then the Verkhovna Rada voted for all the relevant regulations, including those related to mobilization. We have not stopped mobilization for a single day, but it is based on the need for boys and girls who should perform certain tasks, and we are doing this quietly. We have already completed several stages of mobilization, so there is no need to raise a fuss, because everything is going according to the plan that is in place today," Oleksiy Danilov said.
However, the NSDC Secretary suggests that there may be an additional draft. "Yes, the military are appealing, and there will most likely be an additional draft, but this does not mean that it will go beyond the limits we approved back on February 24, 2022. The mobilization is going smoothly and the volumes required for our Armed Forces have never crossed that mark. Moreover, we have not reached the targets we approved for a single month. The military takes care of our servicemen and women, and they call up exactly as many as they need to fulfill their tasks," he says.
In the same interview, Danilov said that a Russian S-400 Triumph launcher was destroyed in Crimea on August 23 with the help of a new modern Ukrainian missile, which proved to be "absolutely flawless."
