Ukrainian military expert tells what is needed to return Crimea

Military expert Ihor Kozii said this in a comment to Ukrainian Gazeta.ua online newspaper.

“Donbas remains the hottest area on the front. The Russian forces are advancing there. We are trying to carry out offensive actions in the Luhansk region. Ukraine's Armed Forces are withstanding. The question is that we should be supplied with ammunition and weapons in time to liberate our territories,” the expert says.

Kozii also commented on Crimea.

“This will be the next stage. Today, the obstacle for us on the peninsula is the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The entire infrastructure is built around it. And we need to destroy Russian ships that are missile carriers. Their destruction will mean that Russia will only be able to sail through the Black Sea, but will not be able to  to cause harm. Also, the question is whether Russia has reserves that it is currently preparing. These are the two key questions now. Another important issue is the strengthening of sanctions control. First of all, regarding Iran and the equipment for their drones, which are manufactured in the US and Europe. We need to focus on this issue,” Kozii added. 

As for the north, there is always a possibility of another attack, but the expert says it is up to the intelligence and counterintelligence to assess the risk: “It is now difficult to say how big the threat is. Only a limited circle of people in the state knows this.”
