Ukraine's Intelligence looks for where Russia assembles its drones
Ukrainian intelligence has discovered an increase in the number of Russian parts in Shahed kamikaze drones. Work is currently underway to identify the place where the drones are assembled
This was announced by Vadym Skibitskyi, representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
According to intelligence, the enemy has begun to set up a powerful UAV production facility on its territory.
"In the second half of this year, the enemy planned to produce 1300 units of the so-called Geran-2, i.e. Shahed: Russians can use components of both foreign and domestic production. However, in reality, they are not capable of producing that many UAVs today," Skibitsky said.
He noted that more than one enterprise in Russia is involved in the production of attack drones and their parts. Ukrainian intelligence is currently working to establish the locations and actual production volumes of the Shaheds.
The success of the Russians' plans will depend on how well Ukraine works in tandem with our partners on sanctions: "We are sharing information with our partners to identify and close the ways of supplying components, equipment, machines, and software used for the production of UAVs to Russia. In addition, these plans (of the enemy - ed.) will depend on a successful kinetic impact on those facilities involved in the production of these drones in Russia."
The intelligence representative said that attack drones are an important component of the new tactics of Russian strikes: they combine the use of UAVs and missile weapons. This is one of the options that the enemy can use in the fall and winter to attack Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
"We, for our part, will do everything to protect our facilities, detect preparations for attacks in a timely manner, and, accordingly, give recommendations to our power engineers to prevent serious damage," Skibitsky added.
