Ukraine’s gas production hits post-invasion peak in October - ExPro
In October, Ukraine’s gross natural gas production rose by 2.3% year-on-year to 1.663 billion cubic meters, marking the highest monthly level since January 2022
According to ExPro's calculations, the average daily gross natural gas production in October amounted to 53.6 million cubic meters, which is 1.3% more than in September. This is also the highest average daily production since February 2022.
In total, in ten months of 2024, Ukraine produced almost 15.85 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which is 2% more than in 2023 and 2.7% more than in 2022.
In particular, Ukrgasvydobuvannia, the largest Ukrainian gas producer, increased natural gas production by 1.6% to 1.24 bcm in October 2024. The company produced 12.1 bcm of gas in ten months of 2024, which is 5.4% more than last year.
Ukrnafta increased gas production by 4.6% to 96.4 million cubic meters in September. Since the beginning of the year, the company has produced 967 million cubic meters, up 7% year-on-year.
At the same time, private companies increased their gas production by 4.4% year-on-year to 324 million cubic meters. In total, private companies produced 2.75 bcm of natural gas in the first 10 months of this year, 12% less than in 2023.
According to ExPro's forecasts, gross natural gas production in Ukraine may increase by 2.2% or 420 million cubic meters to 19.1 billion cubic meters by 2024.
- Ukraine's Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, stated that this winter, like the previous one, the country aims to rely solely on its own gas production, without external aid from partners.
