Ukraine needs at least $9 billion over the next decade to restore cultural sites and the tourism industry
AP writes about it.
UNESCO estimates that Ukraine's interconnected cultural and tourism sectors have lost more than $19 billion in revenue due to the full-scale invasion. Fighting led to the damage of 341 cultural sites across Ukraine, including in Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa.
The agency estimates that the total value of the destroyed cultural sites and thousands of other "cultural property" across the country is almost $3.5 billion.
"The cathedral of Odesa is one example of a site that was gravely damaged. It’s a symbol of all the community … with deep spiritual and historical meaning," said Chiara Dezzi Bardeschi, who heads the UNESCO office in Ukraine.
