Ukraine to receive about 3,000 missiles from US for HIMARS, MLRS systems - Zgurets
Military expert Serhiy Zgurets estimates that Ukraine will receive about 3,000 HIMARS and MLRS missiles from the US in a new aid package.
This is stated in Serhiy Zgurets' column on Espreso.
"The question of the number of HIMARS and MLRS is a derivative of how many missiles we will receive from the USA. The new military aid package allows us to calculate the number of missiles that we will receive from the USA. If we subtract 550 million of the cost of artillery ammunition from this package, then the remaining amount will be in the range of 400 million. In addition, the cost of one guided missile, depending on the type, is in the range of 105,000-150,000, so we can expect that in this package we will receive about 3,000 missiles for the HIMARS and MLRS systems. This is a significant amount that behind each missile there is a clearly defined target that is destroyed," Zgurets wrote.
The military expert also noted that 50,000 missiles were produced in the US in 2021, and the order for the current year in the US is approximately 9,000 missiles.
"The production of these missiles is slow, when we look at our defense industry in the future, we have to raise questions about the participation of our defense industry in the production of high-precision weapons for HIMARS, and this will be an insurance option, which is logical for Ukraine in the future," Serhiy Zgurets said.
