Ukraine should produce ammunition on its own – military analyst on manufacturing abroad
It is extremely important for Ukraine to produce ammunition for tanks, mortars and artillery on its own
Oleh Katkov, editor-in-chief of Defense Express military news outlet, said this on the air of the Espreso TV channel.
"We have been talking about ammunition production for 5-7 years, that we need to enhance it – the time has come and, thank God, it has begun. Indeed, it is extremely important that Ukraine produces this ammunition on its own, even if it is abroad. This is the only right way. We understand that after Ukraine's victory, all this production will be brought back home. What we need now are Soviet standards – mines, artillery ammunition and tank calibers. If you are already producing 152-mm ammunition, then objectively the same company will produce 155-mm ammunition (NATO standard – ed.)," he said.

The state-owned Ukroboronprom has begun production of 125-mm shells for tanks. For the first time since independence, Ukraine has launched its own production of ammunition – 82-mm and 120-mm mortar shells, 122-mm and 152-mm artillery rounds, and now 125-mm tank shells.
