Ukraine restores one of the largest bridges blown up to stop Russian offensive
In the Sumy region, one of the largest bridges, which was destroyed in order to stop Russian advance at the beginning of a full-scale war, was restored
This was announced by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Dmytro Zhivytskyi.
"The 400-meter-long bridge across the Desna River connects Sumy region with Chernihiv region again by the shortest route. From now on, people do not need to cover more than fifty kilometers to get from one bank to the other. This logistical artery is also very important for the work of entrepreneurs, farmers, and emergency services. After all, in adverse weather conditions, detouring is practically impossible," Zhivytskyi wrote.
Two years ago, the bridge was completely renovated. However, at the beginning of a full-scale war, the bridge had to be blown up to stop the advance of Russian troops.
"The repair was carried out by the State Special Transport Service. It was fast, reliable and safe. Five bridge piers and six span structures were installed, as well as the sidewalks, bumpers and fences were," the head of the Sumy region added.
