Ukraine needs to be supplied with tanks, planes and long-range artillery for victory - former Lithuanian Foreign Minister
Ukraine needs to liberate its lands, returning what was stolen by Russians, so Lithuania does not need to limit itself in helping Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed by Lithuanian politician, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania (2012-2020) Linas Linkevičius on the air of the FREEDOM TV channel.
"Logically, if Ukraine is liberated from Russia, as we understand it, all the lands, all the stolen, occupied, annexed territories are liberated, it would be the end of the war. Of course, everyone understands this very well. And the way to this is military assistance because everything is decided on the battlefield. By the way, there are large reserves here, because we are also one of those countries who constantly say that we should not limit ourselves in this assistance to Ukraine. Because nine packages, for example, of sanctions - it also says a lot about these packages, how the potential of this pressure is not yet exhausted," Linkevičius noted.
According to him, the same can be said about arms.
"There are always some restrictions on offensive weapons, on the diameter of action of, say, long-range artillery. So there are many things to think about. We are one of those who say that it is necessary to supply Ukraine with tanks, planes, and long-range artillery, because it is necessary to liberate the entire Ukrainian territory. And as you said, let's say, liberate from Russia, we can express it in different ways, but the essence of it does not change," the politician stressed.
Linkevičius also noted that the pace of assistance to Ukraine shows that Lithuania itself needs to increase the turnover of the military industry, adding at the same time that Lithuania plans to strengthen its defence in the context of NATO.
