Keys to implementing Victory Plan are on Bankova Street
It's good that the people of Ukraine got their turn, and the whole country heard at least the main points that the president made when he visited his partners
The five points presented by President Zelenskyy are undoubtedly important. They could represent a vision if articulated by Western leaders who reached a consensus on Ukraine's victory. However, Zelenskyy is neither the president of the United States, nor the head of the European Commission, nor the NATO Secretary General.
"He is the president of Ukraine, and I would like to see a list of our own tasks, things that we can and should do on our own, not solely in reliance on the West's help."
If Zelenskyy had presented such an ambitious plan and actually started implementing it, he would have been in a much stronger position to demand more from his partners for the country.
There were many correct words, even about unity and democracy, but the keys to realizing these calls are on Bankova Street…
Most importantly, at this undeniably exhausting and challenging stage of the war, Ukraine must demonstrate its ability to strengthen itself through reforms and effective governance by focusing efforts on key priorities. The ability to use limited resources efficiently, responsibly, and qualitatively; to prioritize urgent needs and implement them; and to pursue European and Euro-Atlantic integration - this is precisely about the effectiveness of the state and society, which can provide serious additional resources, real opportunities, and additional arguments for our partners to continue supporting Ukraine.
The task is difficult, but there is simply no other way. The longer we do not accept this obvious truth, the less chance the state will have to survive.
