Ukraine will be invited to join NATO within 1991 borders - Justice Minister Stefanishyna
Ukrainian Justice Minister Olha Stefanishyna says that Ukraine will be invited to join NATO within the 1991 borders and this is not being discussed
She said this during a telethon.
According to Stefanishyna, the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO without the territories temporarily occupied by Russia was not discussed.
“There were no such conversations. Ukraine will definitely be invited to join NATO within the 1991 borders, and this is not discussed. This is not a subject of discussion,” Stefanishyna said.
She argues that Ukraine's membership in the Alliance will take place after the war is over, but the situation may change in the process after the invitation.
“After the invitation, a protocol of accession is drawn up, which specifies both the terms and the reforms that need to be done. These are not terrible reforms. But this is later. Now is the invitation. And it is not discussed at all, neither by the progress on the frontline nor by the territories,” the minister said.
On October 16, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that he had been familiarized with the content of Ukraine's Victory Plan and was currently discussing it with NATO allies.
Following his meetings with NATO defense ministers, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that there were no opponents of Ukraine's accession to the Alliance.
