West won't allow Putin to devastate Ukraine - political expert
PhD in political science Maksym Rozumnyi believes that Russia will be destroyed by the internal situation in the country
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"It looks like the West will not allow Putin to defeat Ukraine. They will try to prevent such an outcome. But what we expect is revenge, victory, and everything that follows... And here, I am not accusing the West of cynicism or evil intentions. The fact is, they understand that Russia will be destroyed by its internal situation. This internal situation will become much worse after the war is over, because in addition to socio-economic and other consequences, the question will arise: 'What was the point?'
And when, in this situation, a Russian citizen asks, 'What was the point?' Putin might say, 'Well, we defended Donbas, we reached the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.' And that's it. For such a big country, with such big losses, this excuse is very weak. Russia will literally feel where it has been over these three years. The West is counting on this more than on Ukrainian forces," he said.
Maksym Rozumnyi believes that Ukraine's task is to destroy as much of Russia's military, industrial, and logistical potential as possible.
"What we can do, and what I think is a rational argument, is that while the war is ongoing, we can destroy as much of Russia's military potential as possible. And so, I think this argument is much stronger. Their industrial and logistical potential is what will threaten the West after the war. Therefore, the more we destroy now, the more weapons we are given, the better. I think we should speak this language, rationally," the political scientist added.
On October 18, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that one of the goals of this year's NATO nuclear exercises is to deter Russia.
On October 18, U.S. President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met in Berlin and emphasized their support for Ukraine. At the same time, the German chancellor said he was “making sure that NATO does not become a party to the war.”
