Ukraine "has absolute right" to return its lands - Blinken

Western countries will never recognize Russia's annexation of Ukrainian regions and will support Ukraine in its struggle to return the territories. Anthony Blinken, US Secretary of State, emphasized this on September 27 during a joint press conference with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

"We and many other countries have already clearly stated," Anthony Blinken said, "we will never recognize Russia's annexation of Ukrainian territory. And I emphasize that Ukraine has the absolute right to defend itself throughout its territory, in particular to return lands that have been illegally seized in one way or another by Russia".

The US Secretary of State also repeated President Joe Biden's words that additional tough sanctions will be introduced against Russia for holding so-called referendums in the occupied territories.
