To get more weapons, sometimes you have to watch TV
Works of popular culture, despite their obvious simplifications, can give interesting clues about how people in other countries think and what they are guided by when making decisions
As an example, the Danish TV series Borgen (sometimes translated as "The Government") comes to mind.
In one episode, the government had to decide the fate of a contingent in Afghanistan that was being attacked by the Taliban and suffering losses. The military needed... what a coincidence!.. Leopard-2 tanks and F-16 aircraft. But the pacifists in the government feared "escalation" and "moving away from peace" (turning a blind eye to the fact that "peace" would mean Taliban rule - which, in the end, was what happened in real life).

The situation was reversed by the prime minister's meeting with representatives of Afghan NGOs, who explained in a very lucid manner what the "Taliban world" was; as well as the publication of a farewell letter from a dead soldier who went to war to prevent children from becoming victims of bloody maniacs.
Later, the military got what they needed - to the applause of the public, which “had finally understood.”
“Now the competition can only be about who, how and to what extent helped the Ukrainian Armed Forces”
Given the understandable conventionality of the parallels, such things are a good tip for the Ukrainian authorities: not to slow down, but to support the work of Ukrainian politicians and public organizations in conveying the true picture and urgent needs to the Western establishment and the public.
Now the competition can only be about who, how and to what extent helped the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
