Switzerland discusses possibility of selling tanks for 1 franc to states that will transfer similar vehicles to Ukraine - Defense Express expert Ryabykh
Switzerland is discussing the possibility of selling tanks from its arsenal for a symbolic price of one franc to any country that agrees to transfer its tanks to Ukraine
Valery Ryabykh, Director of Development of the Defense Express media and consulting company, told Espreso TV.
"This is a powerful signal. The statement of the Swiss that they have partially revised their policy of neutrality towards Ukraine amid unjustified aggression against our country is precisely because they have understood the nature of the events. Switzerland has come a long way to understanding. We can state that the process of supplying ammunition for Gepard anti-aircraft systems can be unblocked," he said.
According to the expert, this also started a discussion on the possibility of indirect arms transfers.
"Now they are discussing the possibility of selling tanks from their arsenal for a symbolic price of one franc to any country that agrees to transfer its tanks to Ukraine. They can't give them directly because of the peculiarities of the legislation. Various ways are being discussed. This indicates a shift in support for Ukraine. This may indicate to those who join the coalition that there is no doubt about Ukraine's victory," said Ryabykh.
He added that Switzerland could join the supply of a number of technological items.
"They produce components of various systems that reinforce them. Switzerland is also a powerful producer of certain types of ammunition. Even these symbolic processes are very powerful in terms of setting an example for other countries to understand that the nature of this conflict is the aggressive policy of the Kremlin, which deliberately violated established international rules and order," the expert concluded.
