Support for Ukraine takes on qualitatively different features
Regular meetings at the Ramstein base (or any other location with the same format of participants) have already become top events in the national media and public discourse
People look forward to the meetings, discuss them, make predictions about what they will hear this time, and look forward to the final briefings. Then they are "disappointed," outraged, etc.
I think we need to understand a few things. The Ramstein format itself is not a media event or an information occasion, nor is it a place to make political statements (like the UN General Assembly). This is a real diplomatic format. They actually discuss important issues there. We should not expect that every meeting will bring some news that is pleasant for the general public.
"The purpose of the Ramstein meetings is to be a real diplomatic platform on one specific topic not a propaganda news event"
Moreover, if you analyze the official announcements’ dynamics of aid packages to Ukraine. They are often not connected in any way to the meetings in Ramstein. That is, the purpose of the Ramstein meetings is to be a real diplomatic platform on one specific topic, not a propaganda information pretext.
At the same time, it is hard not to see that the approaches to some key issues among Western countries to support Ukraine remain quite different. There is the approach of the states that recently issued the "Tallinn Declaration" on support for Ukraine. This document did not remain purely declarative. Estonia has already announced the transfer of all its artillery to Ukraine. There is the conditional approach of the US and the conditional approach of Germany. Of course, Ukrainians may not like the latter very much, but I don't think anyone seriously expected German policy to instantly transform within a year into something that is directly opposite to the line of many previous years.
What am I saying? There is a diplomatic process. It means meetings, negotiations, and sometimes statements that look very contradictory in their content. There is no need to spend all your emotional potential on them.
"There are certain trends in the growth of support for Ukraine from Western partners. And most importantly, there is a qualitative change in this support. It just started with the means of guerrilla warfare and Soviet equipment, and now we have reached Patriot systems"
There are certain trends in the growth of support for Ukraine from Western partners. And most importantly, there is a qualitative change in this support. It just started with guerrilla warfare and Soviet equipment, and now we have reached Patriot systems. It's hard not to notice this. This is if you look at global trends, which say something. But the movement towards these trends is not linear, the pace is clearly not enough to satisfy anyone. The danger from the aggressor state is not only not decreasing, as some in the West might have hoped, but is actually increasing.
All this is the subject of complex diplomatic negotiations.
