Stars dedicated to endangered Ukrainian animals appear on Hollywood Walk of Fame
UAnimals activists have placed stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame dedicated to Ukrainian species on the verge of extinction due to the Russia’s war
The UAnimals humanitarian movement shared the update on its website.
The Walk of Fame now features the stars of the steppe eagle, brown bear, Euro-Asian lynx, black stork, and barn owl. These stars are located next to the names of famous people, such as Tom Cruise, Frank Sinatra, Arnold Schwarzenegger and others.
The activists note that all these animals are on the verge of extinction due to Russian aggression, so Russia should pay appropriate reparations after the war.
“Russia is committing ecocide and eco-terrorism in Ukraine, deliberately destroying all living things. Due to missile attacks, bombings, mining and other barbaric actions of the Russians, animals, both wild and domestic, are dying en masse. Additional sanctions should be imposed against Russia in connection with the ecocide committed against Ukraine. The terrorist country must be held accountable for the violation of environmental safety in Ukraine and contribute to the restoration of the Ukrainian ecosystem after the war by paying reparations,” UAnimals founder Oleksandr Todorchuk commented.
It is noted that in total, more than 80 species of animals are endangered.
“10 national nature parks, 8 reserves and 2 biosphere reserves are occupied, and in some of them, Russians allow hunting and shooting of wild animals that were under protection,” the report says.
The event held as part of the international campaign #StopEcocideUkraine, which aims to bring Russia to justice for environmental crimes committed during the war in Ukraine.
