Sooner or later, Ukraine will attack Russian fleet in Crimea, Black Sea - Deputy Defense Minister Havrylov
Deputy Defense Minister Volodymyr Havrylov has said that Ukraine will attack the Russian fleet in Crimea and the Black Sea as soon as it has enough of the right kind of weapons.
Havrylov told about this in an interview with The Times.
"We have a constant threat from the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Given the new technologies and capabilities we're getting, we have to counter that threat. We've started with an operation on Zmiinyi island. We're getting anti-ship weapons, and sooner or later we're going to target the fleet. This is inevitable, because we have to guarantee the safety of our people," Havrylov explained.
He added that Ukraine has legal grounds to attack the Russian-occupied peninsula.
"Sooner or later, we will have enough resources to attack Russia in the Black Sea and Crimea. Crimea is Ukrainian territory, so any goal there is legal for us. Russia must leave Crimea if they want to exist as a country," he said. Havrylov added that liberation of the peninsula is possible both by military and diplomatic means.
