So far we cannot speak about the documents’ reliability - White House on leaked Pentagon classified documents
The US authorities continue to investigate the situation with the leak of allegedly secret Pentagon documents - some of these documents have not been verified for authenticity, the White House called them fakes
This was announced by John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator of the White House National Security Council.
According to him, experts continue to check the published documents and identify elements of forgery.
“So far I cannot speak about their reliability. Americans should know that we take this situation very seriously. The President has been informed about this and will continue to receive updated data. The Ministry of Defense also oversees this. And the US Ministry of Justice is conducting a criminal investigation. There are no excuses for these documents to have been merged. They shouldn’t be available to everyone, but they should be protected,” Kirby said.
He did not specify which of the documents was a forgery, but assured that it was impossible to say that any of the leaked materials were authentic. Kirby noted that U.S. officials are in contact with allies from other countries and are reporting on the progress of the events. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was also informed about the documents, but Kirby did not specify whether US President Joe Biden had spoken to him.
