Slovakia to send MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine in September
Slovakia's Defense Minister, Jaroslav Nadia, has that MiG-29 fighter jets will be delivered to Ukraine in September, and they are estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of euros.
This is stated on the Visegrád 24 TV channel with reference to the Minister of Defense of Slovakia.
It is noted that Slovakia will transfer its own MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine in September. The number of aircraft that will be transferred is not reported.
Slovakia should receive money from the EU or military equipment from NATO for them.
Also, Slovakia, Poland and the Czech Republic decided to launch a program to expand the production of artillery systems, ammunition and other military equipment for Ukraine - Minister of Defense of Denmark Morten Bodskov.
It is known that with the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, problems arose in Slovakia with the repair of Russian-made MIG-29 fighters. Therefore, at the end of August, the Ministry of Defense finally landed these machines. The Ministry of Defense is currently looking for a way to monetize fighter jets. Yaroslav Nadia estimates the value of the 30-year-old aircraft at 300 million euros. He is negotiating a ransom with his allies.
Slovakia's interest is that these planes go to Ukraine. Therefore, a scenario is also possible, that if Slovakia provides Ukraine with aircraft, it will receive the corresponding cost necessary for defense from another country.
