Shmyhal sets out terms for high volume electricity supplies to EU, describes how Ukraine can contribute to Europe's energy security
Speaking at the European Political Community summit in Prague, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal set out the terms for large electricity supplies to the EU and described how Ukraine can contribute to Europe's energy security
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal wrote about this on Telegram.
"Reducing dependence on Russian energy resources is a critically important step that every country in Europe must take now. Ukraine can contribute to Europe's energy security by providing its underground gas storage facilities. In addition, with full control over the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Ukraine is able to supply large volumes of electricity to Europe," Shmyhal noted.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that Ukraine has significant potential for gas, hydrogen production, and the development of renewable energy sources.
"The ambitious "green model" can be embodied in the post-war reconstruction plan and implemented by our state with the support of international partners. Reconstruction of the energy sector of Ukraine after our victory will become the most attractive area for investments in construction and future development of technologies," Shmyhal added.
In addition, the EU should now work on reducing dependence on the resources of the Russian Federation and continue to pressure the aggressor with sanctions, in particular, against energy carriers. Shmyhal called on partners to pay attention to Ukraine's opportunities.
