Russia's move to mobilize 300,000 will be a severe obstruction for its military training system - Zgurets

"If we talk about partial mobilization in the Russian Federation through the prism of their military capabilities, then the importance of this step should not be overestimated. There is a certain effect, from the point of view of attempts to create additional whips in Russia in order to be able to compensate for the losses of the Russian army. But the pace of recovery of enemy losses, due to partial mobilization, will be slow enough," the military expert commented.

Serhiy Zgurets recalled that before the invasion of Ukraine, the Russian army had 180,000 personnel, and during these months of the war they suffered significant losses, so they used various methods to compensate for the lost soldiers and equipment.

"The Russians' recruitment efficiency was low because the training period was short. And now they intend to mobilize 300,000, because such a number will be a significant blood clot for the Russian system of military training, which has already degraded. If they go with the option of more or less normal training, it will take from three to six months. And if they recruit and release these mobilized reserves at once, it will not increase the capabilities of the Russian army and will not change the dynamics on the front line, accordingly, it will create tension in Russian society," - military analyst explained.

Zgurets considers it a possible option that at the end of the draft period, the Russians will also mobilize those conscripts who have served a year. Russian military leadership will not fire them, but will leave and transfer them to other areas later. There are no newly mobilized yet, but it will take some time to form new units with them.

 "As we saw from the 3rd Army Corps, which was preparing for four months with a number of 15 thousand, that even after four months, we know about the formation of these units by 40%. That means that the 3rd Army Corps is a litmus test, through the prism through which you can look at the further effectiveness of mobilization in Russia", - military expert noted.
