DIU drones hit defense plant in Tula: Russia claims air defense operations in 5 regions
On the night of May 16, Ukrainian drones attacked the state enterprise of the Russian defense complex Bazalt in Tula. Russia's Defense Ministry announced the work of air defense in 5 regions

"As a result of the scheduled work of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, a military facility in Tula was hit on Thursday night. The enterprise directly produces military products for the war against Ukraine," the message reads.
Bazalt is Russia's main defense enterprise for the creation and supply of weapons and ammunition for the ground forces, air forces and navy.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported the the work of air defense.
“Last night, another attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out terrorist attacks using aircraft-type UAVs, the Vilkha multiple launch rocket system and the Tochka-U tactical missile system against targets in the Russian Federation was prevented,” the statement said.
It is noted that Russian air defense has allegedly destroyed:
- two Vilkha MLRS missiles, one Tochka-U tactical missile and one drone over the territory of the Belgorod region,
- six UAVs over the occupied Crimea,
- one drone over the Bryansk region,
- one drone over the Kaluga region,
- two UAVs over the Tula region.
On the evening of May 15, explosions were heard in the temporarily occupied Crimea: the Russians reported “successful” air defense operation.
