Within a thousand days of the full-scale war, the invading Russian army has killed at least 89 teachers and professors in Ukraine
Ukraine's Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi stated this.
According to him, 89 teachers and professors were killed as a result of the full-scale Russian invasion. In addition, 228,000 children were forced to leave their homes, 16 universities left their home, and about 1,000 schools were on the other side of the frontline. At the same time, the number of unissued higher education diplomas exceeded 500.
Lisovyi emphasized that despite the losses, destruction, and danger, education has survived, is recovering, and gives hope and confidence in the future.
"Children are returning to school, schools are being rebuilt and families are returning to their communities. Schools are being filled with textbooks and equipment, buses are being purchased and shelters are being built. The reforms of the New Ukrainian School and high school continue, and new, long-overdue changes in higher education and science are being launched. For 1,000 days, we have been overcoming our fear, doubt, fatigue, and despair. We are fighting for the right to have a future. A safe, dignified, educated future, which we will definitely get," the minister emphasized.
