Russian troops searching for Melitopol men to dig trenches and potentially fight
The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, said that in the temporarily occupied area, the Russian army is looking for men to force them to dig trenches and fight on Russia’s side.
The mayor informed about this on Telegram.
"Russian troops are trying to force the men of the temporarily occupied Melitopol region to dig trenches in order to leave them in these trenches to fight for the Russian army," writes Fedorov.
The mayor wrote that Russian soldiers initially tried to bribe civilians - they announced the recruitment of men for "construction work". They offered RUB 80,000 a month for this “work”, although even Russians themselves do not get such money. "Despite the fact that even their mobilized soldiers are often left unpaid," Fedorov commented.
The Ukrainians did not agree to cooperate with Russian occupiers, so they began to go around the houses in the villages of the Melitopol district, looking for men and forcing them to work for Russia.
"Unfortunately, this is an example of another Russian terror practice. We see that the ridiculous Russian army needs not only free labor, but also cannon fodder, which they will send to the front lines for slaughter," Fedorov added.
